From Graham Stowe: I am the Associate Director and day-to-day coordinator of the University of South Carolina Writing Center. I grew up in North Carolina, did a three-year stint in Tennessee where I met my amazing partner Jen, and I’ve been in South Carolina since 2004. In 2007, after studying William Carlos Williams’s Paterson extensively, I collaborated with two other musicians on a several songs based on the poem, which was my first serious experience with writing music. Writing songs has been a hobby since then, and place has remained central to my songwriting. I believe that there is a very natural connection between songwriting and writing center work; both are about persistence and revision.
