about

From Sam Noggle: I was born in 1990 and grew up in Hickory, NC. I have played music since the age of 10, starting on drums and picking up a guitar around the age of 13. Ever since I was 5 years old and heard “Black Dog” I knew I wanted to play music. In the early days I was mostly into the stuff I’d hear on the radio or occasionally what my cousins would introduce me to. My interests in middle school moved into the 60’s and 70’s rock and roll era, and by the time I reached high school I had found the wondrous world of punk rock. I believe growing up in an era where music from previous generations is still accessible created my eclectic taste in music. I never feel limited to a particular genre, not just in listening, but also in writing. I began working in the writing center in fall of 2013. Both my parents were college English instructors, which instilled a great importance of literacy in me. My time as a writing consultant has been the most gratifying job I have held: helping students to understand and convey their own thoughts. I value fiction. The analysis of fiction can help one to better understand reality by applying ideals present in literature to modern society.

I played drums in death metal group The Maybrick Diaries and hardcore-punk band Rampage from ’05-‘09. For the past 5-6 years I have solely been writing, recording, and releasing music under The Lab Rats. My current projects are The Lab Rats, Thing Sloth, and Scully & The Fox.

Scully and the Fox is a two-person project involving me and Sarah Crump. We have no specific focus of genre. The project has been active since August of 2014. For more information see facebook.com/scullyandthefox.
