From Tim Dougherty: I’ve been writing songs since I first learned two chords on the guitar back in high school. These days, I’m an assistant professor of English at West Chester University of PA, where I work to help students craft their own researched and multimodal stories. As a researcher, I study rhetorical history to better understand the ways that folks have crafted their identities to build power in social movements. As a songwriter, I like to translate these social stories of struggle for justice into song, and I’m very interested in exploring the blurred lines between politics and aesthetics in crafting a powerful tune. These days, as a parent of two very little ones, I don’t play out much. But I look forward to getting back into performance as time allows.
