From Mackenzie Ridley: I am a sophomore Engineering Major, Economics and Physics double minor, working with Berea College’s Writing and Learning Center as a Peer Writing Consultant. I have worked with Berea’s writing center for this past year, and enjoy helping my fellow students hone their own skills (writing and otherwise). The writing center is helping me learn how to be a more developed teacher, so that I can pursue teaching English as a second language in other countries. I have played violin since I was seven years old, and enjoy the simple jigs, reels, and waltzes that have shaped the mindsets and outcomes of the historic Appalachian region. I also spend my time playing defender for the Berea College Men’s Soccer Team, and connecting with Eastern Kentucky locals through Berea’s Entrepreneurship for the Public Good Program. This short piece, “Cooley’s Reel”, is a Traditional Irish tune and is one of my long-time favorites. (Additional guitar by Al White.)
